The Shell Cup is the first Retro Cup featured in every mainline Mario Kart series installment since Mario Kart DS. It is based on the Green Shell item. The Shell Cup features mostly simple tracks from previous Mario Kart installments, making it the Mushroom Cup's counterpart in this regard. The Shell Cup is followed by the Banana Cup.
